A temperature tower is a 10-minute calibration that saves hours of failed prints. Here's how to run one properly.

1. Set it up

Slice a temperature tower model (available in OrcaSlicer, Bambu Studio presets, or Thingiverse) with a filament-specific G-code that changes nozzle temperature every 10 mm. Range: cover the full spec of your material (e.g., 190–230 °C for PLA).

2. What to inspect on each segment

  • Bridges: clean spans = good melt flow
  • Stringing: fewer wisps = better retraction match
  • Overhangs: smooth undersides = right viscosity
  • Layer adhesion: can you snap segments? Too easy = too cold
  • Surface gloss: dull or burnt = too hot

3. Pick the sweet spot

Choose the lowest temperature that gives clean bridges, no stringing and strong layer adhesion. Lower temps = crisper detail and less ooze; too low = weak parts.

4. Save it

Name the profile with the material and spool (e.g., "VOXFIL PLA 210 °C"). Your next spool of the same material will behave the same if the supplier is consistent — which is exactly what ±0.02 mm tolerance and stable formulas buy you.
