1. Vacuum sealing is non-negotiable
Vacuum bags with desiccant keep hygroscopic materials (PA, PC, PETG, TPU) dry through weeks of sea freight. Check the seal quality — a bag that arrives loose has already failed.
2. Spool protection
Cardboard spools need edge protection in cartons; the flange edge takes the most abuse. Corrugated dividers between spools prevent friction damage to filament edges.
3. Carton design & labeling
Double-wall cartons for 3/5 kg spools, barcode labels on every box, and batch codes printed on the spool itself (not just the box — boxes get separated from contents).
4. International freight basics
- Sea (LCL/FCL): cheapest per kg; 15–40 days; moisture risk higher — sealing matters most
- Air: fastest (3–7 days); premium cost; ideal for samples and hot SKUs
- Rail: mid-cost/mid-speed for Eurasian corridors
5. Documentation that clears customs
