PA (Nylon (Polyamide)) is one of the most-used 3D printing materials. In plain terms: industrial-grade toughness and wear resistance.
VOXFIL PA nylon is a true engineering material — incredibly strong, wear-resistant and fatigue-proof, with a low-friction surface for moving parts. Perfect for gears, hinges and anything that must flex thousands of times without failing. Keep it dry to print at its best.
Key properties of PA
| Filament diameter | 1.75 mm ±0.02 |
|---|---|
| Density | 1.14 g/cm³ |
| Nozzle temperature | 250 – 270 °C |
| Bed temperature | 60 – 80 °C |
| Print speed | 30 – 60 mm/s |
| Cooling fan | Low (10 – 30%) |
| Heat deflection (HDT) | 95 °C |
| Tensile strength | 68 MPa |
| Elongation at break | ≈300 % (fatigue-proof) |
| Drying | Mandatory — dry 8 h @ 80 °C before printing |
| Glass transition (Tg) | 70 °C (dry) |
| Flexural modulus | 2.8 GPa |
| Recommended nozzle | Hardened steel for best life (nylon is mildly abrasive) |
| Storage | Dry box mandatory, below 20% RH |
How to print PA
- Nozzle: 250 – 270 °C (260 °C sweet spot)
- Bed: 60 – 80 °C, glue stick or PEI
- Speed: 30 – 60 mm/s, low cooling
- Always dry before use — nylon absorbs moisture fast
Best applications for PA
- Gears & mechanical parts
- Living hinges & clips
- Bearing surfaces
- Vibration-prone components
- Functional prototyping for production
Best for: Moving, flexing, load-bearing parts that must survive real cycles.
