ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is one of the most-used 3D printing materials. In plain terms: the engineering classic — heat, impact and post-process ready.
VOXFIL ABS delivers the toughness, heat resistance and machinability that made it the industry standard. Parts can be sanded, drilled, glued and acetone-smoothed. Print inside a heated enclosure for warp-free, dimensionally accurate engineering parts.
Key properties of ABS
| Filament diameter | 1.75 mm ±0.02 |
|---|---|
| Density | 1.04 g/cm³ |
| Nozzle temperature | 230 – 260 °C |
| Bed temperature | 90 – 110 °C |
| Print speed | 40 – 80 mm/s |
| Cooling fan | Off or minimal (0 – 20%) |
| Heat deflection (HDT) | 85 °C |
| Tensile strength | 42 MPa |
| Impact strength | High — shatter resistant |
| Drying | Recommended — dry 4 h @ 80 °C |
| Glass transition (Tg) | 105 °C |
| Flexural modulus | 2.3 GPa |
| Recommended nozzle | Brass (standard) |
| Storage | Sealed bag, below 40% RH |
How to print ABS
- Nozzle: 230 – 260 °C (245 °C sweet spot)
- Bed: 90 – 110 °C, enclosure strongly recommended
- Speed: 40 – 80 mm/s, cooling fan off
- Use enclosure + brim to eliminate warping
Best applications for ABS
- Automotive parts
- Electronics enclosures
- Mechanical gears & clips
- Cosplay & props
- Tooling and vacuum-forming bucks
Best for: Heat-tolerant, impact-resistant parts with great post-processing.
